SharePoint Usage Analytics is an important component in SharePoint 2010 and 2013. In SharePoint 2010, Usage analytics is a separate component and will be configured as a separate APP service. In SharePoint 2013, Usage Analytics is a part of SharePoint Search Service.
The Usage Analytics Processing Component generates two reports.
- Popularity Trends
- Most Popular Items
It shows usage event statistics for a site collection, a site, or library or list items.
Most Popular Items
It shows usage event statistics for all items in a library or list. This report is more of granular one.
Okay?Enough of Theory !!. Coming back to the issue which I faced today ,When I configured Usage Analytics component and try to see report for Most Popular Items , all I can see is that report with zero count. Even after doing multiple usage activities, report doesn’t seem to moving away from zero count.
Office Web apps is missing in the Server. I have installed Office Web Server in my machine and my Most Popular items started showing non zero count in the reports.
